How often do you go to a restaurant and love everything you order? You know me, not often. The food here was outstanding, so let's get to it. The roti was so good we had to each order our own. Mango Duck: I was super hesitant when it read "cripsy" and had low expectations, but man it was crispy and so was the basil and it was great with the red curry. Delicious if you like duck! Spicy basil: Great green beans and tasty dish. Crab Fried Rice: I read all the great reviews about this, and though, you know me, I'm not a fried rice person, I decided to take the plunge. This crab rice was fluffy and the egg mixed in with the crab was fresh and flavorful and not at all fishy. The side chili sauce had a kick to it. Mango Sticky Rice: Sweet mangos that really hit the spot, and a large portion of warm sticky rice. This dessert was enough for share. Service was average, and it was empty during lunch, but the food here is a winner. My coworker was even talking about future Doordash orders!

===TL;DR=== - Kee Mao - Khao soi chicken - Chicken wing ===TMI=== Another good Thai food place with decorative interior. Big portions which is great for sharing. Their chicken wings were on steroids, they were huge! Not dry, a bit sweet and tangy. Kee mao was a good standard, you get to choose your protein as a lot of other Thai place does as well. The khao soi was hearty. Every strand of egg noodles were covered in the curry sauce, soaking in all the essence. Perfect balance of crunchy and chewy. Personally, the build of flavors got heavier as I progressed so I had to take a break before jumping back in again. They're a good one stop restaurant for variety of occasions. Swing by and explore their expansive menu!

The food are great and service is good too. Love all the drinks we tried- Lychee Dragonfruit Lemonade &Thai Iced Tea. Only one dish- the pla daek papaya salad was a bit disappointed. It has raw marinade crab on the top, which made the salad very sour and fishy. That's the only dish I and my friends didn't like.

Just as a disclaimer, I'm not too big on Thai food. This was my first time at Pla Daek, but I loved it. They had many more interesting dishes than I'd seen before (refer to disclaimer), and give me a great opportunity to try something other than Americanized Thai food. All the food we order had a great fragrance and flavor. Everything we ordered was well cooked and tasty. The staff was efficient and pleasant if not overly talkative. I really loved the decorations and decor. The place is well lit with lots of cute lamps and wall paintings without being overly cluttered. I look forward to trying other dishes on future visits.

I came here with a friend to catch up over lunch on a Sunday at 1pm. Although we didn't have a wait, the place definitely filled up. We LOVED the food. We shared everything family style. We got the roti with dip, kao nam tod (crispy rice lettuce wraps), and khao soi chicken. The roti had so many layers and was so good. It paired well with the dip it came with but also was nice to have as an appetizer so we could dip it in our other foods. The kao nam tod was my favoriteeee!!! Comes with fresh lettuce, fresh basil, and fresh cilantro. We put the crispy rice and some of these herbs, with a little piece of the chili pepper, and wrapped into a lettuce. The freshness of the veggies went so well with the savory crispy fried rice. The khao soi chicken was also fire. It comes with cooked noodles and crispy noodles. The chicken was tender and well cooked. The whole dish was just full of flavor and the texture of fried noodles, cooked noodles, chicken, and curry all worked really well together. Also, the ambience was really cute. The flowers at each table were such a nice touch, and I loved the fish lamps on the ceiling and the nice murals on the wall. Relaxing, fun, and not too much! I would 100% come back. So excited to come back for more!

Very very cute restaurant in a nice neighborhood. Service was attentive and nice. Food tasted really good and authentic but what impressed me the most was their decorations and dinner plates. I love them so much . Parking is little bit challenging but I was lucky to be able to find a spot in the neighborhood without paying meter. Looking forward to go back and try something else again soon.....

My knowledge of Esan cuisine is pretty limited. I've been to Pok Pok, Andy Ricker's tasty Northern Thai restaurant in both Brooklyn and Portland (sadly both closed). I think that's the closest I've been to an Esan eatery except for the now-defunct Esan Classics in Little Saigon. However, I heard about this Piedmont Avenue restaurant and visited to take advantage of their lunch specials. Their lunch special menu is long and varied, available Monday-Friday 11AM-3PM. I decided on the $15.99 Ka Moo, a stew made of five-spice pork leg that was literally falling off the bone. It was presented with pickled mustard greens, steamed Chinese broccoli, and a halved hard-boiled egg. It came with cucumber slices and a big scoop of jasmine rice (photo: https://bit.ly/3YHSyMz). It was quite delicious and filling especially since it came with a hearty bowl of salad drizzled with their housemade vinaigrette (photo: https://bit.ly/3YNb3iS). You can get more familiar Thai dishes under the lunch special offer like pad thai, pad kee mao, eggplant basil, and pumpkin curry. I'm still no Esan culinary expert, but at least I can order ka moo with some conviction. FOOD - 4 stars...satisfying pork leg stew hits the comfort buttons AMBIANCE - 4 stars...pretty spacious in here SERVICE - 3 stars...a bit on the curt side especially as the restaurant started to fill up TOTAL - 4 stars...the lunch special is the way to go if you have the time RELATED - Exploring Piedmont Avenue?
